We all make mistakes when it comes to our exercise routines, particularly if we’re looking to lose weight. We might not realize it, but we’re all guilty of doing things that, rather than make us slimmer, actually make us no better off. Sometimes, they make us fatter. I do it, you do it, and even the “experienced guys” down at the gym do it too.
The only difference is that I’ve seen the light. I’ve learned that you can actually enhance fat burning by exercising for just 5 minutes a day. Yup, 5 minutes. See, it’s all about being more efficient and getting more done in a quicker time, as opposed to prolonging our exercises.
Stop Overdoing Your Cardio
One of the major things many of us are guilty of when it comes to exercising is overdoing cardio whilst forgetting all about strength training. We say to have a bit of a swap-round here. Lose all that time you spend on cardio and use it instead on your strength training. You will build more lean muscle, which in turn will help your body to burn more calories.
Stop Exercising Moderately
Too many people down the gym prefer to sail through their exercise for an hour, believing that, as long as they’re exercising for an hour, they’ll be keeping themselves in shape. Sure, your heart will stay in shape, but this method is certainly not efficient if you’re looking to trim your waistline.
Instead, we recommend cutting down that hour-long routine into just half an hour. Make your exercise more intense, more vigorous. Don’t do an hour if you’re just going to breeze through it. Do half an hour but work harder.
Stop Using The Elliptical
The elliptical machine is great, isn’t it? After all, it does half of the work for you! Yay for elliptical machines, the saviours of shirkers everywhere.
And this is the problem. They do half the work for you.
In other words: YOU’RE NOT PUTTING IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF EFFORT.
There, said it.
Stop Relying On Ab Exercises To Trim Belly Fat
Think sit-ups will get you those six-packs you’ve been dreaming about? Think again. Sit-ups target just one muscle group – and a small one at that. They don’t help you to lose your belly fat. Instead, if you want to lose it, we suggest starting with the right kind of diet.
Stop The Long Workouts
If we work out for a long period of time, what happens? We get hungry. Then what happens? We put on weight!
What else happens? We get tired!
As you can see, long workouts should be a no-go. We suggest swapping them for shorter bursts of activity.
Stop Hydrating With Calorie-Busting Sports Drinks
These kinds of sports drinks sound okay (after all, they’re termed “sports” drinks), but they’re actually jam-packed with sugar. And sugar after a workout is a very bad thing. Instead, we recommend hydrating yourself on water only.
